Origin of the Issels Treatment

The Issels Treatment is a comprehensive immunotherapy for cancer that has received international recognition for its complete long-term remissions of advanced cancer. It originated in Germany and was developed by Josef M. Issels M.D. His concept of integrating into the treatment plan not only the cancer tumors and cells, but also with the same importance, the complex defense, regulatory, and repair mechanisms of the cancer-afflicted person as a whole, was revolutionary and met with opposition from certain chapters of the cancer establishment. Nevertheless, due to his treatment results, Dr. Josef Issels was invited to serve as an expert member of the German Federal Government Commission in the Fight Against Cancer from 1981 until his retirement in 1987.

The following are examples of complete long-term remissions of cancers that had otherwise been considered hopeless. These show that even in an advanced stage of the cancer disease an immune response with complete tumor remission can be achieved and patients can live cancer free for many years or decades.
