Marissa Market, a 21-year-old from Essex, Canada\u00a0who recently graduated from the University of Windsor with a degree in biology, is one of those amazing people.<\/p>\n<p>As noted by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.windsorstar.com\/news\/university-of-windsor-super-student-tackles-cancer-research\"><em>The Windsor Star<\/em><\/a>, Marissa first\u00a0announced to her parents her intention to cure cancer when she was still an elementary school student.\u00a0Since that time, she has never forgotten that goal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Amazing Facts About Marissa Market<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Marissa&#8217;s youth was filled with achievements.\u00a0She studied\u00a0in The International Baccalaureate program,\u00a0co-authored a textbook about epigenetics and\u00a0volunteered in the research lab of Dr. Lisa Porter at the University of Windsor when she was only in 9th grade.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>She gained a lab\u00a0position with Dr. Porter as a college sophomore and won\u00a0NSERC government grants three summers in a row so she could research mutations of a protein called tuberin that causes one\u00a0type of cancer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Marissa, competing against 1,600 others,\u00a0won one of only four available openings in the\u00a0University of Ottawa\u2019s prestigious seven-year MD\/PhD program that focuses on physician and cancer treatment research graduate study because she plans to\u00a0research viruses and other techniques\u00a0used to fight cancer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Marissa Market represents a new generation of doctors\u00a0who specialize in research.
