Issels Immunotherapy and Vaccine Program to Treat Cancer
The Issels non-toxic immunotherapy programs are based upon decades of extensive clinical experience with the integration of cancer vaccines into a personalized comprehensive treatment designed to restore the various levels of the body's complex defense mechanisms, which is a precondition for the long-term remission of cancer. This approach distinguishes itself decisively from the mere administration of vaccines and has achieved a unique track record of unusual and long-lasting remission results.
The Immunotherapy Protocols administered at our in-patient facilities are non-toxic. They include autologous vaccine and cell therapies that are prepared from the patient's "own immune cells"o, by evaluating and using their molecular profile. Hence, they are "personalized" and specific, which enhances their potency.
Our compassionate doctors have many years of experience in administering various combinations of the following depending on the specific diagnosis:
• Autologous Dendritic Cell Cancer Vaccine is designed to stimulate a patient's immune system to target and eliminate cancer cells. The preparation of the vaccine involves culturing the patient's peripheral monocytes in vitro in the presence of a recombinant growth factor, special cytokines and their own tumor antigens to achieve a specific immune response. Dendritic cells are key regulators of immune responses and orchestrate innate and adaptive immunities. They are the most potent antigen-presenting cells and have the potential to invoke an anti-tumor immune response.
• Prostate Cancer Vaccine is designed to stimulate a patient's immune system to target and eliminate prostate cancer cells. The preparation of the vaccine involves culturing the patient's peripheral monocytes in vitro in the presence of a recombinant growth factor, special cytokines and their own prostate-specific antigen, which is fractionated into peptides in order to achieve a more specific immune response.
• Lymphokine-Activated Killer Cells, also known as LAK Cells are autologous lymphocytes that in the presence of Interleukin-2 are expanded and activated to kill cancer cells.
• Activated Natural Killer Cells, also known as NK Cells are autologous natural killer cells, a type of lymphocytes of the innate immune system, that in the presence of Interleukin-21 are expanded and activated to kill cancer cells.
• Coley's Mixed Bacterial Vaccine stimulates the formation of the body's own interferons, interleukins, tumor necrosis factor and other potent disease fighters.
• Systemic Hyperthermia enhances immune functions.
• Autologous Cytokines or Coley's Mixed Bacterial Vaccine as home care to continue activating the immune system for the first five months of the home care program.
Issels Integrative Immuno-Oncology in Tijuana, Mexico
The Vaccine and Cell Therapy programs are administered at a hospital in Tijuana, Mexico.
Ambulatory patients have the option to undergo the Immunotherapy program with the Dendritic Cell Cancer Vaccine, the Lymphokine-Activated Killer (LAK) Cell and Natural Killer (NK) Cell Therapy during a 5-day in-patient treatment with costs depending on the individual patient's requirements. This price covers two Dendritic Cell Vaccines and one administration of LAK and NK Cells, and includes the 5-month home care supply of immune-boosting subcutaneous injections once per month.
The two-week in-hospital Immunotherapy program with three Dendritic Cell Vaccines and two administrations of LAK and NK Cells including the 5-month home care supply of immune boosting subcutaneous injections once per month.
The hospital services for the two-week programs would sometime require additional costs depending on the medical services required, which are approved by the patient first. This price would include the infusions of multivitamins/minerals, amino acids, blood oxygenation, etc., as indicated.
The total cost of the Immunotherapy program personalized for each individual patient depends on the protocol that our doctors will recommend for the specific medical condition(s).
